Adventure: The Voyagers take to the Sea with GoPro!

Nothing gets the creative juices flowing like glistening seas, salty air and a group of inspiring travelers! For our first Voyagers Club Adventure, I ask GoPro to partner with us for a day at sea.

A  small group of Voyagers with proficiency in adventure, video, GoPro and photography, were invited onboard for a day of learning, sharing and collaborating. Not only was the goal to learn more about using GoPros and some of their new products, but to also meet and learn from other creators in the LA area. Many participants were meeting each other for the first time and we left the sailing day as a much closer group.

We started with a brunch, dockside at Salt, the restaurant at the Marina Del Rey Hotel. This was an ideal start in order for everyone to meet (or reconnect), while noshing on delicious food and taking in water views. Two awesome reps from GoPro joined us and graciously outfitted our crew in their latest gear and gadgets. We went over some of the new software that GoPro has developed too, including Quik Stories, an app that makes editing video on your phone very intuitive and… quick!

Fortified and excited, our team headed to our 41’ft French Catamaran, (some by foot and others by pink flamingo scooter thank to Skye) to begin our open water adventure in Santa Monica Bay.

Hot Stuff was indeed a beautiful boat, and our Captain Frank took us out for a lovely ride. Though the heavy fog was threatening at first, it cleared up and the sun came out, basking our nautical crew in glorious rays. Good thing–the photos & video came out much better in that bright sun!

The boat journey was a mix of splashes, rosé, laughs, candid photos and some posed, as well as a few dips out in the deep blue of the Pacific. A few of us dove off the side and splashed in the waves while others drove the boat and grooved to the sunny beach tunes. We played with El Grande, the longest GoPro extender as well as a GoPro Dome under the waves and Roamaroo even flew their (non GoPro lol) drone!

All in all it was lovely to meet the people behind these impressive, self-made travel brands and to have everyone work together. Each person brought their own skills, background experience and enthusiasm to add to this group of likeminded travel bloggers.

Big thanks to everyone that came out and of course, to GoPro for sponsoring such a care-free day at see! The content that was created can be found on Instagram at #VoyagersClub as well as on each creator’s platforms!
